We are seeking experienced litigation insurance defense associates who desire to work in a fast-paced litigation environment where opinions and ideas are valued and encouraged. At Floyd | Pflueger, being an Associate means you will immediately be involved in drafting and opposing motions, depositions, discovery, court hearings and trials.
Located in Seattle, we are a small in-office law firm overlooking beautiful Puget Sound. We pride ourselves on fostering relationships, supporting each other in our practice areas, continually improving processes and consciously providing opportunities to build community amongst ourselves. While hybrid work is available, we value our in-office time together.
The skills and abilities of successful candidates include:
- At least three years’ experience.
- Experience working with insurance companies and within their respective guidelines is a plus but not required.
- Active membership in Washington state bar.
- Excellent research, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Clerkship experience a plus, but not required.
- Ability to work with colleagues professionally, effectively, and respectfully.
- Desire to develop relationships with individuals who have different cultural frameworks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Salary Range: $90,000 to $145,000 per year

As a legal assistant/paralegal, you will join a team of four legal assistants and two paralegals.
The Legal Assistant/Paralegal will:
- Manage all aspects of cases for assigned attorneys including court documents, case schedules, trial dates, depositions, mediations, and client meetings.
- Draft, prepare and format correspondence and other legal documents based on firm standards and individual attorney preferences.
- File pleadings with courts, serve counsel with pleadings, discovery, etc.
- Schedule appointments, depositions, court reporters, process servers, client meetings and other matter-related meetings for attorney(s).
- Maintain attorney calendars, set deadlines, reminders and other action items as needed and requested by assigned attorneys.
- Receive and process medical records for assigned cases.
- Ensure outgoing mail, email, overnight deliveries, and messenger deliveries are delivered accurately and in a timely manner.
- Create and manage client files using NetDocuments.
- Communicate professionally with a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff both in person, phone and email.
- Assist other firm attorneys as requested and required in the absence of, or in addition to, their regularly assigned legal assistant.

Candidates will have:
- Minimum of three years’ experience providing attorney support in a law firm.
- Experience in the Washington state and Federal court system.
- Prior experience in insurance defense litigation.
- Prior experience in medical malpractice and gathering medical records.
- Experience working with experts.
