Myriah S. Downs

Myriah S. Downs is a civil litigation attorney who focuses her practice in employment, personal injury, wrongful death, professional negligence, and railroad law. In addition, Myriah has handled a wide range of employment matters including executive compensation, leave and accommodation, and workplace discrimination/harassment investigations.

Myriah previously represented the State of Oklahoma in economic development matters concerning SALT incentives, investigated law enforcement use of force and misconduct, and was the first civilian recipient of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Chief’s Special Recognition Award for her contributions to equitable civil asset forfeiture reforms.

Myriah served as the Chair of the Oklahoma Bar Association Diversity Committee and as a Board Member for the Oklahoma Association of Black Lawyers. She also graduated from the Oklahoma Bar Association Leadership Academy.

Myriah received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 2015. There, she served as a senior staff member of the Energy Law Journal, was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, and was elected Regional Chair for the National Black Law Students Association. Myriah earned her B.A. with Honors in Communication Studies from Arkansas State University in 2012.

Outside her law practice, Myriah is a contemporary visual artist whose artwork has been featured throughout the United States. She has served as a Chair and Jury Member for art exhibitions. Myriah is also a certified yoga instructor and volunteers her time teaching yoga to underserved communities.
